Timo Thielemans: one website for a para athlete from Stekene
Timo Thielemans is a para athlete from Stekene.
Project description
Timo competes in shot put and discus. He is a multiple Belgian champion and record holder, Stekene’s sportsman of the year 2024, and he is working towards competing at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. His request was simple: one website where everything about his sport comes together, and one he can keep up to date himself.
The brief
People who follow Timo mainly want to know when and where his next competition is. His news and results needed a permanent home. And anyone who wants to support him had to see straight away how to do it.
Calendar at the top, his own news and support made tangible
Right below the welcome text are his upcoming competitions, with date, time and venue. So nobody has to go looking. After a competition, Timo writes a short post on the site himself: how it went and what result he achieved. That is why the site above all had to be easy to manage. A site nobody keeps up to date soon goes stale.
Support from sponsors and supporters helps Timo pay for training, competitions and equipment. So the site makes supporting him tangible: sponsorship packages with a clear amount, a fundraising campaign, a T shirt you can buy and local events such as the fundraising dinner.
The result
Timo now has one address he can give to the press, to sponsors and to anyone who wants to know when he is throwing next. And he keeps it up to date himself.
